I received a question or two about my open DOGE buy at 131 satoshi. From those questions, and from the sentiment I see on forums and subreddits regarding Dogecoin, it quickly became obvious that Dogecoin is a divisive subject. /r/Dogecoin (obviously) loves it and everything to do with it. /r/Bitcoin and /r/Litecoin don’t exactly enjoy its existence (though they absolutely should). The Speculation subforum of BitcoinTalk hates it with unmatched vitriol. But why is this the case?
The answer is pretty simple, really. Bitcoin and Litecoin communities tend to dislike Dogecoin because they have spent a huge number of hours and a huge amount of effort legitimizing cryptocurrency.
